DAY 1: AVIGNON
Passengers are welcome to board our ship at 6:00 p.m. After comfortably settling into your cabins, we’ll introduce our crew at a welcome cocktail. Enjoy an evening of Christmas traditions.
DAY 2: AVIGNON - TARASCON
Join us for the excursion proposed: A guided tour of Avignon, one of the most important cities in Europe during the Middle Ages, and the official residence of nine popes in the 14th and 15th centuries. We’ll visit the Christmas Market, where you'll discover santons: hand-painted nativity figurines traditional to the Provence region. Afterwards, we'll have a look at the large nativity scene at the town hall and then head to the local market (2) to discover the regional holiday treats. After our tour, we’ll return to the ship and cruise towards Tarascon, arriving in late afternoon. This evening’s dinner will have a holiday theme.
DAY 3: TARASCON - ARLES - AIGUES MORTES
In the morning, join us for the excursion proposed: A visit to a candle factory (1) to discover the unique scents and colors of this traditional craftsmanship. The afternoon, our ship will sail towards Arles. Upon arrival, join us for the excursion proposed: Visit the museum displaying more than 400 different santonsin Paradou. La Petite Provence du Paradou is reputed to be one of the largest nativities in the world. Each remarkable, life-like santon is based on a character from the books of Alphonse Daudet and Marcel Pagnol. We’ll then return to Arles and visit the santon exhibition and tradeshow, displaying almost 300 years of this local tradition—from the very first models to the latest creations. After our visit, we'll return to the ship by foot. This evening’s dinner will have a holiday theme.
DAY 4: AIGUES-MORTES
The morning, our ship will sail towards Aigues-Mortes. The afternoon, join us for the excursion proposed: A visit of Aigues-Mortes. In the Middle Ages, the city began as a settlement of reed huts, with its inhabitants making their living from fishing, hunting and salt production from the small marshes along the shore. Much later, it became a fortified city because of its strategic location and is now one of the most beautiful historical sites in Provence. We’ll finish our tour with a tasting of the traditional sweet fougasse: a delicious light, ?at brioche with a subtle orange ?ower flavor. You’ll have some free time to explore before heading back to the ship. Tonight is our gala evening and dinner.
DAY 5: AIGUES-MORTES - Avignon
Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking at 9:00 a.m. You’ll be transferred to Avignon by coach, arriving at approximately 10:30 a.m. End of our services.
