DIJON - PETIT OUGES - BRAZEY - SAINT-JEAN-DE-LOSNE - SEURRE - CHALON-SUR-SAONE

DAY 1: DIJON

Passengers are welcome to board starting at 6:00 p.m. in Dijon. After you've comfortably settled in your cabin, we'll introduce our crew during our welcome cocktail party, followed by dinner on board. Our boat will remain in port overnight in Dijon.

DAY 2: DIJON - PETIT-OUGES

After enjoying a breakfast buffet on board, you can join us as we set off by coach on an optional excursion along the Grands Crus Wine Route. This tour must be booked in advance through your travel agent or tour operator before we begin the cruise. The touristic Grands Crus wine route passes through villages and the finest and most prestigious of the Burgundy vineyards. We will stop in one of the region's many wine manufacturing estates to enjoy a wine tasting session. At the end of our morning tour, we'll return on board for lunch. Early in the afternoon, we'll cast off and cruise to Petit-Ouges. This is the perfect opportunity to relax and admire the scenery as we cruise through the Burgundy Canal countryside. A bike path was created that follows our route on the canal. You are free to take this path whenever you wish [bicycles are available on board (1)], biking alongside our boat as we cruise along. We'll arrive in Petit-Ouges early in the evening, in time for dinner on board. Our boat will remain in port overnight.

DAY 3: PETIT-OUGES - BRAZEY

You'll begin your day with breakfast on board. During the morning, you'll have free time to explore the charming village of Petit-Ouges at yout own pace. We recommend the “Circuit of the Three Wash-houses” (2) (2.5 mile hike). This circuit is the chance to discover this little known commune of the Greater Dijon area dating from the 7th century. The hike will give you the perfect opportunity to relax in the charming and peaceful countryside, and to discover the Church of St Peter at Petit-Ouges, former fiefdom of the Citeaux Abbey. You'll return on board for lunch before we cast off for Brazey. As we float by, you will discover the magnificent lush, green landscapes of the Burgundy Canal, and its charming riverside towns. We'll arrive in Brazey early in the evening, just in time for dinner on board. Our boat will remain in port overnight.

DAY 4: BRAZEY - SAINT-JEAN-DE-LOSNE

After enjoying a breakfast buffet on board, we'll spend the morning cruising to Saint-Jean-de-Losne. During the journey, you'll enjoy the peace and quiet, and admire the scenery along the way. A bike path was created that follows our route on the canal. You are free to take this path whenever you wish [bicycles are available on board (1)], biking alongside our boat as we cruise along. After lunch on board, you can join us for an afternoon devoted to the optional tour of Saint-Jean-de-Losne, the most important marina for inland waterways and canals in France. We will explore monuments that tell the story of the city's prestigious past, such as the monument commemorating the Siege of 1636, and the Hôtel-Dieu, which was a charitable hospital founded in 1658. We'll also discover the Gare d'Eau (Water Station), which was created in the 19th century so that rafts could be built from wood floated from the south of France or from Paris via the Burgundy Canal. Our visit will continue with a tour of the Gothic-style Church of St John the Baptist, built in brick during the 16th century, and the Batellerie Museum, also known as the Sailors' House (closed on Mondays), one of the oldest houses in the town, which traces the history of navigation. We'll end our tour at the Town Hall where we have the chance to taste local specialties from Burgundy. At the end of the day, you'll enjoy dinner on board, as our boat stays in port overnight.

DAY 5: SAINT-JEAN-DE-LOSNE - SEURRE

We'll spend the entire morning afloat, having a breakfast buffet and lunch on board as we cruise to Seurre. Why not take advantage of the time spent cruising this morning to bike alongside the boat on the canal's bicycle path? Our boat will arrive in Seurre before lunch, and we'll enjoy our meal on board. After lunch, we'll set off on foot for a guided tour of the town. You'll discover this former border town with its ancient dwellings, town hall, covered market, and traces of its industrial past. Finally, from the control tower, you get an insider's look at how the Seurre Lock operates. At 607 feet long and 39 feet wide, the Seurre lock was the first large caliber lock of its kind on the Saone River. It is semi-automatic, and runs with the aid of a lock keeper, who oversees the process and also controls and manages the weir from the tower. After our tour, we'll return on board for dinner, and our boat will moor for the night.

DAY 6: SEURRE - CHALON-SUR-SAONE

You will relax and enjoy a breakfast buffet and lunch as we cruise the canal for the rest of the morning. Our boat will head to the village of Chalon-sur-Saône, arriving early in the afternoon. You can join us on an optional guided tour of Chalon-sur-Saône, birthplace of Joseph Nicéphore Niepce, who invented photography in 1824. Here, in the Old Town, you will find half-timbered houses built between the 15th and 17th centuries, the restored facade of St Vincent's cathedral, and classical mansions dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Our guided tour will continue to the town center, where we will have a tasting session of wine from the Côte Chalonnaise. After our trip, we'll return to the boat, and you will enjoy a gala dinner and an evening of entertainment.
